I don't know if I want to give you my real name, I've recenly moved from the Canberra area I found this site through a school counsiller person back there. I'm gay I've known for a long time and nearly every day I've woken up feeling disguisted about myself and what I am and I've tried to change but I know that I can't. I'm not ready to come out yet, but I think that anonymity of the internet can help me talk about it because it sucks sorta thing, I mean I still feel ashamed about myself every day.
When I was little I played Soccer and kept playing for a long time as well as footy at school and stuff and I still ride motorbikes and I'm pretty interested in politics and I'm a pretty conservative person and still I'm gay. I don't like it but I can't do anything to stop it and I suppose it's just there and it always will be and one day I'll have to accept it and be open about it but not yet.
Well that sounds stupid and ranty so yeah hi.

Hi there, Anonymous!

Welcome to Qnet and all.  You sound like someone that will GREATLY benefit from this website.  It has plenty of resourses, and if you have a search around, you'll find a bunch of posts about people's experiences with themselves and their sexuality and how they feel in society.  And all that other confusion that comes with the realisation that you are not straight.

But anyways, I really hope this site helps you clear up some questions you may have been holding onto.

Enjoy your stay!

Chris!

Hi, well I guess where to start, my names Tom, and I'm not actually from Canberra but not that far from it =]

I must say I'm jealous of the social gatherings and groups and such that seems to exist in Canberra! That would be great where I live, except for the fact that no ones gay here of course haha. Oh well, can't help that now can we.

Just finished exams...and am pumped for 2 weeks of holidays. In which I will do as little as possible of course =]

catch.
Of course it's hot in space. Just where do you think pineapples come from?

Hello World,
This forum is quite cool. I'm new to canberra (have come up to start work), what's a good way for introverted geeky types to meet people in around here?

Ohh, and "Hi, my name is kwax", hehe.

Hey Tom!  Welcome, Tom!  Are you in a rural NSW town or something, are you?

You SHOULD be jealous of our social gatherings  :D.  They're pretty darn good.

Yay for finished exams!  And extra yay for 2 weeks holiday!  ...which I'm totally on as of next week, also.  And yes, the whole do as little as possible act ;D

Welcome, again.

Hello World,

ANNNND, Hi Kwax!/ChuckyCheese!  Welcome to Qnetttttttttttt...!!  Need I guess, Public Service?  Come on, who CHOOSES to come up to Canberra?

As for introverted geeky types, and providing you are between the ages of 12 and 25 (maybe 26?), I would most definitely recommend coming along to Bit Bent.

Bit Bent is a 'youth support group' for GLBTQ people, ages 12 - 25.  There are TWO groups.

MONDAY - Belconnen Youth Centre - 6pm - 8pm.  Ages, so far, include 15 - 25 year olds, about 20+ people or so

THURSDAY - Woden Youth Centre - 5m - 6.30pm.  Similar range of ages, and more like 10+ people.

Plenty of geeky types at both.  Especially comic geeky!

Hope that all sounds helpful.  ALL of it.

Chris!
