The evening in Canberra begins with a ecumenical church service at All Saints Church in Ainslie at 5.30 pm. At 7.00 pm a candle-lighting ceremony will be held at the National Museum of Australia followed by unfolding of panels of the Australian AIDS quilt. There will be hot soup sponsored by the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. You are welcome to attend one or both services.
The theme for this year is "Turning Remembrance into Action". Anyone that has attended the memorial in the past will tell you it is a very moving event. It is an opportunity to remember the HIV pandemic not only in Canberra or Australia, but also the world. You don't need to have known anyone with HIV or AIDS to attend.
